Trossachs Trail Marathon

A unique chance to take part in a very limited number, inaugural event. With just ten places – yes ten – The Trossachs Trail Marathon in 2019 is a boutique event. The Run Bible are sure this event will become a firm favourite on the trail calendar and set to grow into a fully established event. This is your chance to say you were there when it all began!

The Trossachs Trail Marathon takes place with the wonderful backdrop of Ben Lomond and the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park

Trail Marathon

The Forest Park encompasses some of Scotland’s best-loved locations, from magnificent Loch Lomond, the rolling Trossachs hills and Loch Katrine to the craggy tops of Strathyre.  It’s a feast for the eyes whatever the season and there’s so much to see and do – whether you want to just soak up the view, stroll or swing through the trees or take a steamship on a legendary loch.

Watch out for wildlife as your route explores Loch Ard and the forest here. Watch out for woodland birds, red squirrels and woodland residents, including mirage foxes, osprey, leaping fish, grazing dear and the occasional feral mountain goat!

The Trossachs Trail Marathon will take place on Tuesday 31st December 2019. The race starts and finishes at Kinlochard.

The race is organised by The RUN Bible, and run under UK Athletics Rules and Scottish Athletics licence 11146. You must be 18 years old on the day of the race to take part.

The Trossachs Trail Marathon is just that – trail and a marathon. It is not a road marathon and the distance may have an element of “ish”!

You can collect your race numbers and timing chips from 8.30am on the day from the car park.

THE COURSE:

The stunning circular route takes you through forests, down trails, along loch shores and over hills, offering up stunning views over some of Scotland’s best scenery.

With over 2000ft of ascent this isn’t for the faint hearted – the climbs are worth it! When you reach the top – weather permitting – the view will not disappoint. And the knowledge that it’s downhill along the trail as it pans out in front of you will be a welcome boost!

The route will be self-navigated – we’ll provide the maps, with some good guidance notes and route photos to keep you on track. Participants will be issued with a GPS tracker, so we can ensure you don’t wander off track, and also help keep you safe in the event of emergency.
