The Sharp End of the Migo Mile

Sharp points the way with début win

A father and son 1-2 was always on the cards when Louis Sharp (VP-CoG) arrived to register the family, with the news that dad was on the way after a 20 mile warm up!

John Sharp (Inverclyde AC) has already completed a staggering 1200+ kilometres in 2020. A sub 2.30 marathon PB, and a 71 minute Half Marathon time outlines his pedigree.

It was however, Sharp the younger who led the pack from the start line, and round the turn. Sharp senior’s experience and stamina allowed him to glide past Louis, taking the tape in 5.24. Louis pushed along by John finished in 5.27. At just 14 years old, this is one to watch!

Third place male, Alan Strang (Motherwell AC) set a course PB by just 3 seconds in 5.46. Despite the best efforts of a playful collie near the finish line (not Jim!)

Jenny Brown, fresh from her South By Five series win, once again took first place. Donning her fresh Sx5 t-shirt, she powered over the line in 6.06 – also a course PB by 3 seconds.

Emma Rogerson (Bellahouston Harriers), a Migo Mile débutant pushed hard for a strong finish up the slight incline, happy with her time of 6.37 and a 2nd place podium result.

Third place female Gillian Gallagher, kept her feet dry (not going to live down that puddle!) Joining the 3 second PB club cutting down December’s time to cross the line in 6.51

A total of £29 was raised for Give A Dog A Bone.

Thanks to this months volunteers Michelle Sinsheimer, Jim the Dog, Rodger McEleney, Robert Hill (RD)
